Ferguslea Properties is the owner of Accora Village, Canada’s largest privately owned rental community. We are in the process of revitalizing our community that is comprised of over 2,400 homes, and over 8,000 residents to provide a best-in-class lifestyle for our customers.


We are seeking a motivated and passionate Recreation Facilitator to support the planning and delivery of recreation programs, services and events.  Reporting to the Recreation & Leisure Manager, the Recreation Facilitator will ensure that programs and services are delivered in accordance with Ferguslea policies, procedures and health and safety standards. The Recreation Facilitator drives a standard of excellence for exemplary customer service and client satisfaction.


The duration for this position will be from June 4th, 2018 to  September 3rd, 2018. This is a full time temporary position.




Program and Service Administration and Delivery


Working independently and alongside others the Recreation Facilitator plans and leads programs and supports services and events assigned.  The Recreation Facilitor will prepare long range and short range plans for assigned programs and ensure required supplies and equipment are available.  Supply purchasing completed as required within budget parameters. The Recreation Facilitator will delivers programs and services in accordance to program plans and established quality standards.


The Recreation Facilitator completes participation and attendance records and weekly and daily checklists as required. The Recreation Facilitator will maintain a professional appearance and wear the designated uniform while on duty.


The Recreation Facilitator attends team meetings, training sessions and planning sessions as required. The Recreation Facilitaor performs other duties as assigned by the Recreation & Leisure Manager.


Health & Safety


The Recreation Facilitator assists in the maintenance and cleanliness of the recreation program spaces, equipment and supply storage areas.   The Recreation Facilitator ensures program equipment and facility are safe for use and reports known and potential hazards to the management for immediate action.  The Recreation Facilitator enforces safety rules and initiates emergency response procedures including first aid and incident reporting as required.


Customer Experience


The Recreation Facilitator receives and responds to feedback from the public and staff. The Recreation Facilitator is responsible for interaction with program participants and facility members and guests and  regularly participates in community events.  The Recreation Facilitor creates a inviting environment by welcoming members and guests, enforcing rules and responding to customer questions and feedback in a timely manner.


Qualifications and skill requirements:


  • Post secondary education in Recreation, Social Work, Early Child Education or other related field of study
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and diplomacy skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Enthusiasm and passion for people with a focus on customer service
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving and ability to maintain a high level of leadership skills
  • Flexible and highly organized with superior conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • First Aid and CPR certification
