Balcony Safety Tips & Activities
With the beautiful Spring weather upon us, we encourage you to safely make use of your outside space. If you have access to a balcony, why not transform it with some entertaining balcony games?
Balcony Activities:
Please always remember to be mindful of appropriate safety protocols while on your balcony. NEVER leave a child unattended on your balcony.
Tips to help keep children safe on balconies:
- Supervise children when they are on balconies.
- Keep balcony furniture away from the balcony wall or railings so children are not tempted to climb up them.
- Speak to your children about the dangers of climbing on railings or leaning over railings.
- Discourage children from moving furniture close to balcony wall or railing.
- Be mindful of any gaps within the balcony structure. It may be possible for children to use these as a climbing frame or potentially slip through the gaps.
Parks & Play Structures
All play structures have been temporarily closed due to COVID-19. Bayshore Park (including the basketball courts) maintained by the City of Ottawa, is also temporarily closed but open to walkthroughs ONLY. Please visit the City of Ottawa website for details and restrictions pertaining to the park. The City of Ottawa is issuing fines for anyone who is found to not be in compliance with these new bylaws.
Summer Camps
The Recreation team is continuing to prepare for our summer programs including a variety of summer camps and swim lessons. However, given the current landscape, the decision has been made to postpone the opening of registration at this time until we have further guidance on re-opening dates and the effects that this will have on our camps. We expect to have more on this decision by the end of May and will update you as we hear.
Platinum Memberships
All memberships and the associated payments have been temporarily suspended and are set to resume when we re-open. Membership terms will be extended to reflect the closure period.
Should you have any other Recreation questions or concerns, please contact us at play@accoravillage.com. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Accora Centre soon.
