Update – June 8, 2021
The Government of Ontario announced on Monday, June 7 that we will be moving to step one of the reopening plan on Friday, June 11, which will allow larger outdoor gatherings and select outdoor programming to resume. The outdoor pool will open on Saturday, June 12 and select in-person programs will resume on Monday, June 14.
In accordance with the provincial guidelines, and to ensure the continued health and safety of our residents and employees, the Accora Centre indoor spaces including indoor pool, fitness rooms and changerooms will remain closed until further notice.
Bike Loans – Now Available
Child, youth and adult size bikes available to borrow complimentary for 3 hours or $20 for the day. Advance reservation required. Bikes will be sanitized prior to each booking.
Outdoor Pool – Opens Saturday, June 12
Operating hours 12 to 8 p.m.
Limited capacity Adult and Household Swims available with advance reservation. To ensure everyone has a chance to swim, reservations are limited to only ONE (1) time block per day and may be booked up to one-week in advance.
Note: A mask is required for entry into the pool enclosure and may be removed for duration of swim. The change facilities and pool side seating will be closed.
Fitness Classes – In-person Outdoor Classes Resume Monday, June 14
Daily fitness classes will be offered in the green space behind the Accora Centre. Classes will have a limited capacity of 10 and participants will maintain physical distance of 3 metres. All equipment will be sanitized prior to use and will not be shared. Advance reservation required. $10 per class or included with platinum membership.
Outdoor Field Games
Reserve an hour in our outdoor recreation space and get active and have fun as a family! We’ve got the space and the equipment for you to enjoy a game of bocce ball, soccer, badminton, Kam-Jam and more. Equipment will be cleaned between reservations. Reservation is for one-household (individuals with shared address).
Craft Kit for Kids
Father’s Day is June 20, so this month’s craft kit contains all required items to create a Father’s Day gift! Contactless kit pick-up from the Accora Centre starting June 5. Email [email protected] to reserve.
Summer Day Camps for Ages 4 to 12 Years
Accora Village will offer modified in-person and virtual summer camps for children ages 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12 years. Our camp programs are designed to be age-appropriate and provide plenty of opportunities to learn, engage, and have fun! Camp days are filled with a balance of arts, crafts, and games. To add interest, variety and enhance the camp experience, each week features a different theme.
In-person camps will be offered weekly from July 5 to August 27. Camps will take place outdoors in the green space behind the Accora Centre and in the event of severe weather, the camp will move indoors. Camp groups will be kept small to allow participants to safely interact and enjoy physically distanced games, crafts and activities. Our camps follow all COVID-19 infection prevention and control practices set by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Ottawa Public Health. COVID-19 practices include regular and frequent cleaning, daily screenings, social distancing, use of face coverings, limited capacities, maintaining cohort groupings and use of outdoor space as much as possible.
Monday through Friday, $75 per week (4-day week Aug 3-6 $60).
Half-day camp; 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Virtual camps will be offered weekly from July 5 to August 27. Presented using the Zoom platform our virtual camps will bring participants together for 1-hour per day. In addition to virtual group activities, participants will be given camp activities to complete at their leisure during the week. A camp pack with key supplies for the week’s activities will be made available for pick-up prior to the start of the camp session.
Monday through Friday, $25 per week (4-day week Aug 3-6 $20).
Ages 4 to 6: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Ages 7 to 9: 1:45 -2:45 p.m.
Ages 10-12: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Learn to Draw for Ages 4 to 12
Participants will be introduced to various drawing techniques and mediums including charcoal, watercolour, ink and soft pastels and pencil. With a focus on fun, this course aims to evoke imagination and build artistic confidence. This session will be offered in-person outdoors in the green space behind the Accora Centre. Physical distancing will be maintained and all supplies will be sanitized prior to use and will not be shared. $60 for 8 classes. Mondays, July 5 to August 30 (no class August 2).
Virtual Code Club for Ages 8 to 12
By providing easy-to-follow step-by-step guides, we will help children learn to code using Scratch by making games, animations, and websites. Code Club Canada is a project with the Montreal-based national non-profit organization, Kids Code Jeunesse. The projects gradually introduce coding concepts to allow children to build their knowledge incrementally. The program will be delivered virtually. Free program. Tuesdays, July 6 to August 24. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
Dance: Jazz and Hip Hop for Ages 4 to 12
Promoting creativity, musicality, and physicality. Dancers will be brought through creative movement, basic dance steps and more! These classes will be taking place in the green space behind the Accora Centre. All COVID-19 procedures will be observed, including daily screening, social distancing and mask-wearing. $60 for 8 classes. Wednesdays, July 7 to August 25.
Creative Writing for Ages 7 to 13
Introduction to the basics of writing and storytelling with our facilitator Beatrice. Learn new writing skills, explore your imagination and make new friends. Participants will discuss different themes and discover new types of writing. All COVID-19 procedures will be observed, including daily screening, social distancing and mask-wearing. $60 for 8 classes. Thursdays, July 8 to August 26.
Science for Ages 4 to 12
Explore different science experiments and engineering. Are you eager to learn the science behind bottle rocket experiments, slime, baking soda and vinegar experiments, water colours, and basic engineering techniques to build your own bird-house and bridge? $60 for 8 classes. Fridays, July 9 to August 27.
Learn to Run
The Learn to Run program has been designed to ease you into running over an 8-week period. This self-guided program will start slowly and mix in short bouts of running with walking intervals to gradually increase the amount of running you can do. You will receive a weekly plan via email and have the option to send questions to your run coach. Get your running shoes ready, the next session starts Monday, July 5.
Virtual Bingo Night
Enjoy Bingo Night with your family and friends on Zoom. Registrants will be emailed out a virtual bingo card and link to Join Zoom virtual Bingo game. Come in your lucky winning shoes and enjoy a fun filled game night. Friday, June 11, 7 pm.
Bird Watching Tour
Join our certified Naturalist to explore the local area looking for birds. The tour will be departing from the Accora Centre and heading down to the Ottawa river. Registration will include an Accora Village Birding Expedition Guide. $15.00 per person, Saturday, July 12, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Learn to Canoe
Led by certified instructors from the Ottawa River Canoe Club, this recreational canoe course will introduce you and your canoe partner to the basic handling and strokes of this beautiful and versatile boat. Departing from the Nepean Sailing Club, we will be heading out onto the Ottawa River for 2-3 hours. Registration is for two people (2 adults or 1 adult, 1 child 12+) and includes canoe, paddles and required safety equipment. Limited capacity and Covid-19 precautions in place. Please Note: Current Ontario Covid-19 regulations require individuals in a recreational watercraft are from the same household. $120 for two people. Wednesday, June 16, 5:30 pm.
Join us for a paint night hosted by our Recreation Facilitator, Ashley. If Covid-19 restrictions permit, this session will be offered in-person outdoors in the green space behind the Accora Centre. Limited capacity of 10. Physical distancing will be maintained and all supplies will be sanitized prior to use and will not be shared. Step-by-step instructions and all supplies will be provided. $15.00 per person or free for Platinum members. Included in your registration will be a canvas and a selection of paints.
