Fall Rhapsody (Until October 22, 2017, on weekends only)

You’ll find the annual Fall Rhapsody just a short shuttle bus ride over the Ottawa River in the majestic Gatineau Park. Organized by the National Capital Commission, this celebration of fall foliage provides the ultimate hiking experience through dozens of kilometres of trails that wind through the vibrantly coloured forests. Hugging the awe-inspiring Meech Lake and several beaches while offering glimpses of the old stone mill ruins flanked with vivid oranges, reds, and yellows, Fall Rhapsody is the best way to see the harvest colours. Don’t forget your camera and a good pair of hiking boots!

Pumpkinferno (September 29 to October 29, 2017)

Visit Upper Canada Village this fall to experience the glory of Pumpkinferno, which this year has been crafted to include beautiful Canada 150-themed displays! Encompassing a kilometer-long path, this outdoor art exhibit is home to thousands upon thousands of meticulously hand-carved pumpkins, which are lit up at night for an even more impressive display! Perfect for all ages and those with a passion for Halloween, Pumpkinferno is a spookily artistic adventure unlike any other.

Mìwàte: Illumination of Chaudière Falls (October 6 to November 5)

Just across the Ottawa River at the famous Chaudière Falls, become immersed in First Nations brilliance at Mìwàte. Co-produced by the Ottawa 2017 Bureau in conjunction with world-famous Canadian production company Moment Factory, this astonishing light show is a spectacle aimed at putting the natural beauty of this sacred native location in the spotlight… literally! A new public observation space has been installed in anticipation of the many who will flock to view the show, and visitors are encouraged to visit the Kabeshinân Minitig Pavilion located on Victoria Island when they attend.

Ottawa International Writer’s Festival, Fall Edition (October 19 to 24, 2017)

Held at various locations in Ottawa, the annual fall edition of the Ottawa International Writer’s Festival provides an inspiring window into the minds and imaginations of some of Canada’s finest literary figures. Previous presenters have included Margaret Atwood and many other equally impressive names, and events typically sell out quickly for major readings and signings.
