Beyond our own community, we love to get involved in and around the Ottawa area, which is why we hold events within Accora Village and sponsor events throughout the city. Specific to Accora Village, we connect with our residents through fitness and swimming classes, the Light Up The Village yearly event, Senior’s Lunches, as well as other activities throughout the year.

In The Capital, we sponsor the Accora Village Chill Zone at Bluesfest 2024, the Canadian Army Run, the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa’s Bed Race, and the RBC Race for the Kids, among others.

Smoke-Free Living

Accora Village considers health and safety a top priority. With all that is known about the effects of second-hand smoke on one’s health, we first introduced a smoke-free policy to new leases in 2017. This policy prohibits all smoking inside one’s suite, on balconies, enclosed common areas, as well as outside of the building within 9 meters of doorways, operable windows, and air intakes. While there are still some outstanding leases that have been grandfathered in along with tenants that reserve the right to smoke under AODA accommodations allowing smoking within their unit only, our aim is to be a smoke-free community in the near future.

Commitment to Green

It is easy to live a green lifestyle at Accora Village! Through our energy-saving initiatives and efforts in water conservation, Accora Village is working to create a sustainable present and future for our residents. In addition, we are constantly investigating new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and we monitor our waste output to identify new ways to improve our green practices in all areas of the community, for example, by introducing a variety of garbage, recycling and composting services.

Snowshoe Rentals

Snowshoeing is an invigorating way to discover your community in winter and Accora Village is surrounded by an amazing variety of trails to choose from. All you need is snowshoes and you’re off! Reserve your snowshoes at the Accora Centre. Available from December through March in both adult and children’s sizes. Complimentary for 3 hours or $20 for a weekend rental.

Community Events

Accora Village holds numerous community events every year including Light Up The Village, a Senior’s Lunch and other events to provide residents with the opportunity to connect with their community.

Outdoor Hockey Rink and
Baseball Facilities

The Bayshore Park is situated inside the heart of Accora Village, and features an outdoor hockey rink as well as a baseball diamond and soccer field.

Toboggan Hill

Within and around Accora Village there are a variety of great hills for tobogganing. Visit the Accora Centre for a list of local hills.

Bike Rentals

Explore the community by bike. Adult, youth and child bikes are available for 3 hours at no charge or $20 per bike for the full day. Available from May long weekend until Thanksgiving.

BBQ and Picnic Areas

Accora Village is situated beside Andrew Haydon Park, as well as Britannia Beach and Bayshore Park, which features picnic areas and designated BBQ areas that are perfect for a day trip with friends, family, or even your furry friend.

Swimming Pools

The Accora Centre features an indoor saltwater pool and hot tub with hydrotherapy jets, as well as a heated outdoor chlorine pool.

Coffee Shops

Coffee shops, such as Starbucks, Second Cup Café, Tim Hortons, and Bridgehead Coffee can all be found within a short walk or drive from Accora Village.

Restaurants

Accora Village is surrounded by some of Ottawa best restaurants. Whether you are looking for fine dining, casual dining or something on the run, the restaurants surrounding Accora Village have you covered.

High-end Retail

Accora Village is conveniently located close to the Bayshore Shopping Centre, and Westboro Village which feature a variety of high-end retail stores.

The Accora Centre features many kids’ programs and classes, as well as a playground structure located to the side of the Accora Centre and at our Deschenes Court residences.
